Terms of Service
Effective date: June 24, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") cover your use of Rina, an AI learning platform we offer as a website and a native iOS app (the "Service"). Please read them carefully. They cover billing, what you can and can't do on Rina, how AI-generated content works, and how disputes are handled.
1. Acceptance and who these terms are between
These Terms are an agreement between you and Rina ("Rina," "we," and "us"). When you create an account or use the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which is part of this agreement. If you don't agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
If you accept these Terms for a school, an organization, or another person, you confirm that you have the authority to bind them, and "you" includes them.
2. Eligibility
- Minimum age. You must be at least 13 to create an individual account. The Service isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly let anyone under 13 create their own account. If you're between 13 and 18, you may use Rina only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms for you.
- Students in a class. A student under 18 may also take part through a class that a school, teacher, or organizer sets up, and only where that school, teacher, or organizer has authority to enroll the student and has obtained every consent the law and the school's own policies require, including verifiable parental consent for students under 13 where COPPA applies. The enrolling adult or organization accepts these Terms for the student and is responsible for the student's use. We don't collect a payment method from, or charge, students enrolled this way.
- Children under 13. Children under 13 may use Rina only through a class set up by an authorized adult or school, never by creating their own account. Don't create an individual account for anyone under 13.
- Accurate eligibility. By using Rina you represent that you meet these requirements and that the information you give us is accurate.
3. Your account
- Registration. You create an account with an email and password. Our infrastructure provider (Supabase) handles authentication.
- Accurate information. Give us accurate information and keep it current.
- Credential security. You must keep your login credentials secure and confidential.
- Responsibility for activity. You're responsible for everything that happens under your account, which is personal to you. Don't share your account, password, or Pro access with anyone.
- Compromise. Tell us promptly at support@rinaapp.ai if you think someone has used your account without your permission.
4. The Service
The Service includes:
- Courses from a shared library. Take courses and multi-course Specializations from a shared public library for free. Importing a public-library course doesn't require a subscription and doesn't count as generation.
- Personalized generation. Generate personalized courses, Specializations, and study material. This needs an active free trial or a Pro subscription (see Sections 6 and 7) and is subject to the usage limits in Section 8.
- AI tutor and assessments. Use the AI tutor, quizzes, reviews, and mastery checkpoints, and upload your own materials, such as PDFs, slides, documents, and recordings, to guide what Rina generates.
- Web and iOS. Use Rina through the website and the iOS app on the Apple App Store.
Rina is a self-directed learning tool. Finishing a course, Specialization, or class earns you no certificate, diploma, degree, license, continuing-education unit, or academic credit, and creates no accredited or enrollment relationship with any school or institution. We may add, change, limit, or remove features over time.
5. Classes and students
- How classes work. A teacher or organizer can create a class and invite students by email. Invited students join the class from the invitation.
- Class access. Class enrollment lets you access the class materials and study experiences your teacher or organizer provides. Personalized course and Specialization generation follows the same free-trial and Pro subscription rules as other accounts.
- What the organizer can see. The teacher or organizer who enrolls you can see your enrollment status and your learning progress within that class. We share with them only what the class needs.
- Teacher and school responsibility. Organizers represent that they have authority to enroll the students they add, that they've obtained any consent the law requires (including verifiable parental consent for students under 13 and any consent required for older minors), and that they'll use Rina with students only for education. Where a class includes students under 13, the organizer or school provides the consent COPPA requires, and Rina processes student data on that party's instructions. Rina isn't a party to any agreement between you and your school or organizer.
- Student data. We process student learning data, such as progress and quiz answers, to run the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy. Where a school or organizer directs the enrollment, that school or organizer makes its own decisions and consents and is the party responsible for the student records under FERPA and similar laws; Rina acts as its service provider and processes that data only to run the Service. Send any request to access, correct, or delete a student record to that school or organizer.
- When enrollment ends. When your enrollment ends, or the class is closed, deleted, or expires, your class access can end. Courses you already created stay available to you, subject to your account and subscription status.
6. Subscriptions and billing
- Pro plan. Generating personalized courses and Specializations requires Rina Pro after any free trial.
- Price. Rina Pro purchased on the web costs US$12.99 per month.
- Auto-renewal. Your Pro subscription renews automatically each month, and we charge your payment method at the start of each billing period at the then-current price. It continues until you cancel.
- Cancellation. You can cancel anytime from the billing portal in Settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep Pro access until then.
- No refunds. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable, and we don't give refunds or credits for partial billing periods or unused time. Any statutory withdrawal or cancellation rights you have where you live, such as in the EU or UK, still apply.
- Price changes. We may change the subscription price. For existing subscribers, we'll give advance notice, and any change applies to the next billing period after that notice. If you don't agree to a price change, cancel before it takes effect.
- Taxes. Prices may exclude applicable taxes, which can be added at checkout. You're responsible for any applicable taxes.
- Payment processing (web). Stripe processes payments made on the web, so those payments are also subject to Stripe's terms. Rina never receives or stores your full card number. Promotion codes may be offered at checkout.
- Purchases through the Apple App Store. Where Rina offers a subscription for purchase in the iOS app, Apple processes that transaction, not Stripe, and Apple's terms apply. Apple charges your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase, and the subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the current period ends; Apple charges the renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. You manage, cancel, and request refunds for App Store purchases in your Apple Account settings, and Rina can't cancel or refund an App Store purchase for you. If a feature isn't yet offered for purchase in the iOS app, you can subscribe on the web.
7. Free trial
- What you get. New accounts include a 14-day free trial of generation features. We don't collect a payment method to start the trial.
- What happens at the end. When the trial ends, your free access to generation ends and we don't charge you. To keep generating, you buy a Pro subscription (see Section 6). Until you do, you can still browse and take courses from the public library for free.
- No obligation. You don't have to subscribe. Starting a trial creates no payment obligation, and no charge happens unless and until you choose to buy Pro.
8. Acceptable use
We may set and change usage limits, such as a monthly cap on how many courses you can generate. We show the limits that apply to your plan in the Service.
You also agree not to:
- Break the law or harm others. Use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, hateful, harassing, abusive, or fraudulent purpose, or to generate content that is sexually explicit, promotes self-harm, or is otherwise prohibited by law or by our AI providers' policies.
- Attack the Service. Try to disrupt, overload, probe the security of, reverse-engineer, decompile, or gain unauthorized access to the Service, its systems, or the underlying models and prompts.
- Scrape or extract. Use bots, scrapers, crawlers, or other automated means to pull data or generated content out of the Service, including the public library.
- Generate infringing or policy-violating content. Generate content that is illegal, infringes others' rights, or breaks our or our AI providers' usage policies.
- Compete or resell. Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the Service or generated content, or use the Service or its output to develop or train a machine-learning model or to build a competing product.
- Share accounts or get around limits. Share your account or Pro access, create accounts in bulk, or get around generation limits, the paywall, trial restrictions, or other access controls.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules.
9. Academic integrity
Rina is a study aid. Use it to learn the material; don't use it to produce graded work in violation of your school's rules. When you use Rina in a class or for coursework, you agree to follow the academic-integrity and honor-code policies of your school, instructor, or institution. Don't pass off AI-generated content as your own original work where that's not allowed, don't use Rina to complete graded assignments, exams, or assessments against the rules, and don't share quiz or review answers in a way that defeats the point of learning. In a class, we may remove you, void assessment results, or suspend class access for conduct that breaks these rules.
10. Your content and license
You keep ownership of the prompts, materials, preferences, profile details, tutor messages, and other content you give us ("Your Content"). You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, and display Your Content as needed to run, secure, and improve the Service for you, including sending it to our AI providers to generate courses and tutor responses. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backups and anything the law requires us to keep.
You're responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the rights to submit it. When you publish a course or Specialization to the public library, you grant us and other users a license to access, store, and display that content within Rina for learning. We may review, refuse, remove, or limit content you make public or submit to the Service if we believe it breaks these Terms, our AI providers' policies, or the law, or to protect the Service or other users.
11. Feedback
If you send us feedback, suggestions, bug reports, or ideas about the Service, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use them for any purpose, with no obligation or payment to you.
12. AI-generated content
- May be inaccurate. Rina uses third-party AI model providers to generate courses, Specializations, study material, quizzes, reviews, and tutor responses. AI-GENERATED CONTENT IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND MAY BE INACCURATE, INCOMPLETE, BIASED, OR OUT OF DATE, EVEN WHEN IT LOOKS AUTHORITATIVE.
- Not professional advice. Generated content is for general educational purposes only. It isn't professional, legal, medical, financial, or safety advice. Don't rely on it as your only source or to make consequential real-world decisions.
- Review before you rely on it. Reviewing and independently checking generated content before you rely on it is your responsibility.
- Output may not be unique. Other users may receive the same or similar courses, lessons, quizzes, or tutor responses from similar requests.
- Ownership. To the extent we hold any right in the content generated for you ("Generated Content"), and to the extent the law allows, we assign it to you, subject to these Terms and our AI providers' terms. This doesn't extend to content generated for other users, to the Service itself, its templates, prompts, or library content, or to third-party output except as those providers permit.
- You stay responsible. AI is a tool. You're responsible for how you use Generated Content, and your prompts and use of AI features must follow our AI providers' usage policies.
13. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, branding, and the public library as a whole, belongs to Rina and is protected by intellectual-property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service and the content we make available to you for your own personal, non-commercial learning. These Terms grant you no rights to our trademarks or to the Service beyond this limited license, and we may revoke it if you break these Terms.
14. Third-party services and links
The Service relies on third parties, and your use of them may be subject to their own terms:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage.
- AI model providers — to generate course content and tutor responses.
- Stripe — to process subscription payments on the web.
- Twilio — to deliver text reminders, if you turn them on.
- Resend — to deliver account and support email.
These services may change, have their own terms, and become unavailable for a time or permanently. We may switch providers at any time. We aren't responsible for the availability, accuracy, or actions of third-party services, or for third-party content or sites the Service links to. You use those services at your own risk.
15. International users and data transfers
Rina is operated from the United States, and we and our providers process and store data in the United States and other countries. If you use the Service from the EU, the UK, or elsewhere outside the United States, you understand that your information, including the prompts and materials you submit, will be transferred to and processed in the United States and sent to our AI providers, which may process it in other countries. Where the law requires a transfer mechanism for personal data, we rely on the safeguards described in our Privacy Policy, which also explains the rights you have under laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA/CPRA and how to use them.
16. Copyright and DMCA
We respond to valid copyright notices.
- Copyright agent. Send notices of claimed copyright infringement to our copyright agent at support@rinaapp.ai.
- Sending a notice. Your notice should include your physical or electronic signature; the copyrighted work you say was infringed; where the infringing material is on Rina, such as a URL or a course or Specialization ID; your contact details; a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized; and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you're the owner or authorized to act for the owner.
- What we do. We may remove or disable access to material covered by a valid notice, and we'll let the affected user know where appropriate.
- Counter-notice. If your content was removed and you think that was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice to the agent above with your contact details, the material that was removed and where it was, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake, and your consent to jurisdiction as the law requires.
- Repeat infringers. We'll disable or close the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe, in appropriate cases.
17. Privacy and messaging
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described there.
If you give us a phone number and turn on SMS reminders, you agree to receive recurring automated study-reminder texts from Rina, sent through our provider Twilio. Consent isn't a condition of using the Service. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for help, or turn reminders off anytime in Settings.
18. Service availability and changes
We may modify, suspend, limit, or discontinue the Service or any feature, including the free library, generation, the AI tutor, Specializations, classes, or SMS reminders, at any time, with or without notice. We may label features beta or experimental, and those come without any service commitment. We don't promise the Service will be available, uninterrupted, or error-free, and we aren't liable for any change, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service or a feature.
19. Suspension and termination
- By you. You can stop using the Service at any time, and you can permanently delete your account in Settings. Deletion can't be undone: it ends your subscription and removes your courses, generation history, tutor conversations, and profile, as described in our Privacy Policy. Deleting your account doesn't entitle you to a refund of fees already paid.
- By us. We may suspend or close your access if you break these Terms, abuse the Service or its AI features, fail to pay, create risk or legal exposure, or where we need to protect the Service or other users. If a payment fails, we may suspend Pro features until it succeeds and may cancel the subscription after a grace period. We may also remove specific content that breaks these Terms without closing your account.
- Effect and survival. When your access ends, your license and right to use the Service and any Generated Content end. Provisions that should survive by their nature, including content licenses while content persists, the AI disclaimers, intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution and governing law, survive.
20. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE AND ALL GENERATED CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We don't warrant that the Service or generated content will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any exam, certification, or professional purpose, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we don't promise any particular learning outcome. Rina grants no academic credit, certificates, or credentials. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that can't be excluded under the law, including your mandatory consumer rights where they apply.
21. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent the law allows, Rina and its providers won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, including academic outcomes or anything you relied on from generated content. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service won't exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US$100.
These limits don't take away rights that can't be limited where you live. If you're a consumer, nothing in these Terms removes the statutory or mandatory consumer rights you have under the law of your country or state, and where the law doesn't allow the exclusions or caps above, our liability is limited only to the minimum the law allows.
Any claim relating to the Service or these Terms must be brought within one year after it arose, or within any longer minimum period the law requires; otherwise it's permanently barred, to the extent the law allows.
22. Indemnification
To the extent the law allows, and except where you're a consumer and the law limits this, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Rina, its affiliates, and its providers (including Supabase, Stripe, our AI model providers, Twilio, and Resend) from third-party claims, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of or related to: (a) Your Content or the prompts you submit; (b) your use or misuse of the Service or Generated Content; (c) your breach of these Terms or the law; (d) your violation of anyone else's rights; or (e) an organizer enrolling students without proper authority or consent. We won't ask a consumer to indemnify us beyond what the law allows.
23. Dispute resolution and governing law
- Talk to us first. Before bringing any formal claim, contact us at support@rinaapp.ai with a description of the issue and what you want. You and Rina agree to try in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for at least 60 days before starting any formal proceeding.
- Governing law. The laws of [your jurisdiction] govern these Terms, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
- Venue. You and Rina submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in [your jurisdiction] for any dispute relating to the Service or these Terms, unless the law requires otherwise. Your local mandatory consumer-protection rights, and your right to bring a claim in your home country where the law guarantees it, still apply.
24. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and make reasonable efforts to tell you, for example by email or an in-app notice, before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you don't agree, stop using the Service; you can delete your account at any time.
25. Communications and electronic notices
You agree to receive communications from us electronically, including account, security, billing, and (if you turn them on) reminder messages. We may give you notice by email at the address on your account or by posting within the Service, and these electronic communications meet any legal requirement that a notice be in writing. Keep your email address current so you get our notices; you're responsible for messages we send to the address on file.
To send a formal or legal notice to Rina, including a notice about dispute resolution or a DMCA counter-notice, email us at support@rinaapp.ai. Notice is effective when we receive it.
26. Apple App Store
If you use the Rina iOS app, these Terms are between you and Rina, not Apple, and Rina, not Apple, is responsible for the app and its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to meet any applicable warranty, you can tell Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any; to the maximum extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple isn't responsible for product-liability or intellectual-property claims about the app, or for the app's compliance with legal or regulatory requirements, all of which are Rina's responsibility. You must follow the applicable Apple Media Services and App Store terms. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you as a user of the iOS app.
27. General
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Rina about the Service and replace any earlier agreements.
- Severability. If any provision turns out to be unenforceable, it'll be adjusted or removed, and the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver. If we don't enforce a provision, that isn't a waiver of it.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. We may, including in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Force majeure. We aren't liable for failures or delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including AI-provider, hosting, payment, or telecom outages, government action, or natural disasters.
- No third-party beneficiaries. These Terms have no third-party beneficiaries, except Apple as described in Section 26.
- Headings. Headings are for convenience and don't affect how these Terms are read.
- Export and sanctions. You represent that you aren't in, or a national of, a country under US embargo, that you aren't on any US government restricted-party list, and that you'll use the Service in line with applicable export-control and sanctions laws.
